Do Stretching Exercises Make You Grow Taller?

It's not a stretch to say that there's plenty of misinformation out there, and wading through it can be difficult. If you were to hear a claim that simple exercises can actually make you grow taller, you'd probably scoff at the notion, or at least be very sceptical of its veracity, and consider it bunk.

Though it's hard to believe, it is actually true, and we have methods you can test yourself detailed below to prove it. Stretching can and will increase the length of the targeted area, and when targeting the proper areas, increase height.

A good starting point for these claims comes from Major League baseball, where studies have shown that the repeated effort and stretching of the arm that comes with throwing thousands of baseballs a year, has stretched out the throwing arm of most pitchers by 1-2 inches more than their other arm, which is quite a lot.

Even non-pitchers like most of us will find that our dominant arm is longer than our other arm by about half an inch, through the simple additional tasks that we give to it over the other arm. Measure your arms and see if these results aren't true, or simply hold your arms straight out in front of you and then bring them together, meeting at a point in the center of your body.

Arm length of course has nothing to do with height, but it's a good starting test to demonstrate the reality of these concepts. For height gain we'll need to target mainly the legs and the spine.

Targeting the spine with stretching exercises strengthens the discs in your back, and increases the length of space between the many vertebrae in the spine, increasing height.

Here's another fun task you can perform to see just how flexible the spinal column truly is, and how the contracting and expanding of it is no myth. The daily rigors of walking and standing, and the forces of gravity on your spine actually work to compress it as the day extends. When you sleep (assuming you don't sleep standing up of course), your spine will decompress, as the pressures of gravity are taken off it.

With that trusty tape measure in hand, measure your height just before you go to bed one night, and then again the next morning when you awake. You should have gained an inch in height from the previous night. Without exercise this cycle will continue on, but with the proper training, you can see some permanent height increasing effects in your spinal area.

These fun little experiments should be proof positive that height growth is possible through simple stretching. Nothing good comes easily though, and these tasks will take time before results are seen. The sooner you get started, the sooner you can have a taller you.

6. Do something about lowering your "bad" cholesterol and increasing your "good" cholesterol. Neither is difficult.

7. Don't fall behind on your sleep. Sleep has many benefits; it helps to ward off stress, it give you energy, it improves your mood, and it increases your resistance to many ailments.

These tips won't necessarily make you the healthiest person in the room or cause your insurance company to lower your health or life insurance rates, but they are a very good start. So, get started.

Brief Review of Dual Action Cleanse

Dual Action Cleanse is becoming more and more popular. So naturally, it was time to do a review on it. As always I'll start by looking at the ingredients of the colon cleanse product and then go on to the company behind Dual Action cleanse. This brief version of my more thorough review will give you a general idea for wht Dual Action Cleanse may have to offer.

Dual Action Cleanse has a typical (but good) ingredient profile containing mostly fiber with some other ingredients to aid in the digestive system. One thing that's worthy of noting is that there is a long list of ingredients that has to fit into their proprietary blend of 572 mg. This isn't a huge red flag, but it is possible that they are trying to spread too many different ingredients accross the 572 mg. Having said that, this isn't to say that the product will certaintly not work.

Dual Action Cleanse is priced a little on the high side, but not terribly so. You can get packages from $59.90 to $129.80. Ultimately it's up to you to decide if this is too much or not.

Through my research about the company behind Dual Action Cleanse, I actually found some reassuring informtion (doesn't happen too often). The Better Business Bureau gave it a 'B+' rating which is actually pretty good. Dual Action Cleanse had 0 unanswered complaints (as opposed to other's we've seen with as many as 2,500 unanswered complaints). On top of that, Dual Action Cleanse is accredited with the BBB which we don't see very much in this industry.

Of the complaints that we did see around the internet, most of them revolved around the autoship program that they have an option for. Now I've come down pretty hard on companies using autoship programs in the past, but it's been because they are very good about hiding the fact that the consumer is agreeing to one by purchasing. If they are open and forthright about it, then it's the consumers decision. Dual Action Cleanse runs kindof middle of the road here. They don't make it extremely obvious, but they don't hide it from you at all either. See my website for screenshots and more details.

In conclusion, I'm fairly impressed with the company behind Dual Action Cleanse. The product seems pretty good and I don't see many of the shady sales tactics used by many other companies. As far as the autoship goes, I lay the responsibility on the consumer in this case since Dual Action Cleanse gives you the option not to do the autoship and does fairly well as alerting you of it.

When it comes to building muscle, junk food isn't good enough

No doubt this isn't the first time that you've heard it, but it won't hurt to say it again. If you wish to build significant amounts of muscle, you must increase your calories so your body has what is necessary to increase your muscle mass.

This simple formula is that you have to take in more calories than your body is currently using. If not, your body simply doesn't have the resources to add to your muscle mass.

However, if you want to gain muscle, that means you need to eat more calories than your body is using up in a day. Still, you can't simply eat whatever you want and expect to gain large amounts of muscle. There is a method to the madness.

I love fast food restaurants, especially McDonald's. But I have to be honest and state that this is not the healthiest food you could be eating. It depends on what exactly you eat why you're there, but for the most part fast food meals are pretty much junk food.

Fried foods like those sold at many fast food restaurants are full of Trans fatty acids which will not only be worthless for your attempt to build muscle but will also raise your chances of getting heart disease or cancer down the road.

Foods high in refined sugar will also hamper your muscle building efforts. Excess sugar only has three possible outcomes in your body: it is burned immediately as fuel, it is stored as glycogen in the liver and the muscles, or it is converted to fat.

Because your body cannot store very much glucose, you will most likely end up with a nice chunk of extra body fat. This can make it a lot tougher to see those six packs.

You've probably heard that moderation is key, and it's unlikely that you will completely give up your favorite foods. However, try to focus on good foods like lean proteins and fruits and vegetables. We can consider this weight loss program healthy because there's an ample amount of saturated fats and fruits and vegetables as well. Triglyceride levels should be watched though. If it gets high, cut the carbohydrates and take in more unsaturated fats.

The DASH Diet. This diet requires moderate intake of protein and fat but high on carbohydrates. It is designed primarily for lowering blood pressure. The plan follows the food pyramid as a guide. It also encourages eating whole wheat foods, vegetables, fruits and low fat dairy. Some people argue that it allows dieters to eat too much, which may not produce enough weight loss result.

And truthfully, it isn't even a third, because the static and negative portions can actually create a compounding effect in your current strength and fitness levels. Often one of the first things a person thinks about when initiating a bodybuilding program is buying supplements. Many people begin to consider buying a host of supplements before they have even settled on their exact weight training program or a diet plan.

I guess that's the way things are in today's society. People are always looking for an easy way to reach their goals or get out of their problems. We're so used to commercials on TV and billboards all across the highway displaying the latest weight loss pill or get rich quick scheme. We expect everything to happen quickly and without much effort.

I would even go as far as say that no supplements are necessary to accomplish your goals. Now that's a pretty bold statement!

A careful distinction must be made here between these kinds of supplements which may not be necessary or even safe in the long term, and other supplements which promote general health such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and the like. Nor am I referring to pure protein supplements that can help provide extra food in a convenient manner.

Even if these products don't do any actual harm, they're unnecessary. They cost you money, and ultimately leave you feeling discouraged because you have wasted your time with these products.

The bottom line is that everyone can achieve massive muscle growth by adhering to the basic principles of progressive resistance training and increasing caloric intake. In other words, lift more, and eat more. Repeat until you achieve the desired results.

You don't need to consider questionable steroid alternatives, or even more reliable substances such as creatine, until you have practiced basic principles and achieved as much success as you can. You can then consider something like creatine to give you an extra little boost for advanced progress.

After surgery, the body will have to undergo some significant physical therapy to get back into the shape it was before surgery. Most people would complain that they're not the same after healing from the operation, but that is mostly due to their lack of action right after the procedure. Unless you have been amputated or significantly disabled, there is no reason that you can't regain and even improve flexibility, balance, stability, and strength after going under the knife.

The amount of time after a major surgery, and how exercise is done, depends a lot on the sort of treatment that you have undergone.

Toning and weight loss exercises are recommended for patients to help them get back into shape. Since surgery effectively reduces your activity level, it results in a slower metabolism. When this happens, you will gain weight.

Regardless of what your goals and your methods are, it is of vital importance to ensure sufficient hydration throughout the process of exercising.

You will have to take baby steps to get back to your previous fitness level. Going too quick too soon will only make things worse for you. Here are some exercises to begin with after certain surgical procedures. Always consult your physician before getting into such programs.

Breast Surgery

About a week after surgery, you'll still be experiencing discomfort. But recovery will be aided by some simple arm exercises. Perform steady breathing during the following:

Lift the arm found on the side of the body where the breast operation took place, and move it as though to simulate the movement of brushing one's hair or eating. Elevate the same arm you exercised to a level above the heart for a period of an hour. This exercise will help reduce the amount of swelling. While your arm is elevated, you can do some hand exercises, clenching and opening your hand in order to ease the discomfort.

After a few weeks, you may have healed enough to do the exercise below.

Get a hold on a stick or broom handle in both hands with palms up and arms stretched out. Lift it overhead, hold for 3 seconds or so, then lower to the pelvis. Do several reps to best effect.

Hysterectomy

After a hysterectomy, you will have to do some exercises for your back, pelvic, and abdominal muscle areas. Again, try to get your doctor to speak to you about these exercises before starting.

Lie on a hard mattress or on the floor with knees bent and hands behind your head. Have the small of your back press slightly against the surface, then increasing the pressure. If it hurts, stop.

Raise your head and shoulders slightly off the floor, paying attention to the contraction of the abs. Take care not to move the chin toward the chest. Then slowly lower the head and shoulders back to the floor. Repeat several times.

Bridges will help you strengthen your hips and back. Lift your hips as high as you can and hold it for a few seconds. Lower and repeat for 10 reps or so. You can then alternate with abdominal exercises to maximize the effect.

This exercise may require you padding on your knees or on the floor itself. Roll over onto your knees and gradually raise an arm and the alternate leg. Repeat with the other side, alternating for around 10 reps.

Again, don't try to exercise if you feel intense pain as distinguished from mild discomfort. Take it slow, building up strength over time.
